Video from YouTube: Why most rappers are broke?(part 1of 2)by DJCottonHere
Since I purchased my iPAD2
back in 2011, I have had the pleasure of not buying much music. I have been listening to music using YouTube,
Vevo, and Pandora. My life has been filled
will the beats of Jay-Z, Trey Songz, P. Diddy, Fabolous, and Paramore. What more could a person want, when you have
endless music by just paying your Internet bill every month.
Today, I did a little
research to see how the sales of digital downloads are doing for my many
acclaimed celebrities…and I can say it’s not doing very well. You hear on some videos on YouTube that
rappers are broke because of paying back advances on their contracts and the
record companies recouping their money; it has gotten worse for them…Wow! “Digital track sales are down 12.5 percent
from 356.5 million to 312 million. Digital album sales went down 14.2 percent
from 32.4 million to 27.8 million.”
Check it out!
Royalties for these celebs
is only $0.0005 per stream. So it’s good to know that entertainers make their
bread and butter from performances.
Although I digress, will there be a time when people will totally stop
downloading music? Perhaps, another way
of streaming music will happen that will catch the consumer’s attention—some
type of 3D streaming perhaps, who knows?
But these entrepreneurial entertainers need to stay ahead of the game
and come up with better ways of marketing themselves. They need to partner with up-and- coming
software companies or develop their own software companies from the ground
up. These guys are smart, I know that
they can come up with ways of improving or launching a new segment in
entertainment. It's all about New Frontier-ing!
Now, with me being a
Southern Girl, (who loves bling) and hearing the sounds of the ice cream man
going down the street, I thought I would astound you with the creations of the
jeweler Mark Schneider’s Big Bite. It’s
a piece that shocked me and also, made me crave a chocolate ice cream
stick. It’s also got me to thinking,
since I want to sell diamonds and gemstones, and later segmenting into jewelry,
I need to learn as much as I can about jewelry design and being a bench
jeweler.
